Two more stretch goals unlocked!
about 3 years ago – Sat, Sep 18, 2021 at 06:06:09 PM

Thanks for the continued support! Two more stretch goals have been unlocked, the Teke player specialty, and Book II: The Rotted West!

The Teke specialty is perhaps the most exotic in the game. Unlike other talents, Teke talents can only be used by those with the Teke specialty, so from the start of the game you're on that path. Which makes sense narratively, since you were born with your amazing powers.

Teke talents run a variety of the classic fun stuff we expect from telekinetic abilities: influencing minds, moving objects, manipulating fire, and sure, tearing someone apart from the inside out. Teke abilities are some of the most powerful in the game, but they come with a high price. Tekes are universally shunned in this world, and at best they can expect to be rudely shut out from a society that discovers their secret, and at worst, hunted down and executed. Using your teke powers is always a risk if the wrong person sees it at the wrong time! An impulsive or reckless player can get their outfit in a LOT of trouble tossing their teke powers around where others may witness them. Teke powers also consume a unique resource (teke points) meaning you can't really overuse them.

Book II: The Rotted West features all the locations and lore west of the (former) Rocky Mountains to the coast. In the game, players know this only as a foreboding land that no one has ever returned from, so venturing there will be a true discovery for them.

There are only two ways to travel into the west: through the craggy, shadowy mountain range succinctly named The End, which is full of dangerous wildlife and much more dangerous tribes of neolithic, cannibalistic hunters called the Ulgahattar, or south through a blasting desert that destroys vehicles and kills mounts, leaving stragglers to broil to death. That said, it will take a real undertaking by some accomplished players to reach this undiscovered frontier. When they do reach it, they will discover an endless, cracked desert plain with an unusual underground city, and to the north, a rotting, tangled rainforest populated by a dangerous subsect of Witchlike (among many others).

Book I: The Wasted Plains already feels really big, with a wealth of cities, towns, and settlements peppered all over. In all the playtest games to date we've seen perhaps 30% of just this area so far, so I'm excited at the sheer amount of real estate this new book will add to the experience! It would also be possible to start your campaign in the west, in which case the Wasted Plains would be an unknown area to your players.

Thanks again, everyone! I'll update again if we hit more stretch goals, and once the campaign is complete I will send regular updates showcasing different areas of the game. If you have any questions, fire em away in the comments!

WOW WOW WOW Thank you all!
